This exhibition celebrates the work of two American artists, David Krepfle and T. Charnan Lewis. AVA (American Voices Abroad) will also be present to offer Americans living abroad the opportunity to register to vote for the upcoming presidential election. There will be music by Voco, DJ Adam Port, and other guests... and free sushi for all!
Krepfle and Lewis explore and critique the American presence in the global community. There exists a schism between popular perceptions in America of the nations role abroad, and the greater world view. It is within this realm that these two artists work. They engage playful means to address serious issues, underscoring the division between reality and representation. Candy, toy cars, and stickers are among the visual vocabulary used to explore topics such as misrepresentation by the media, and problematic aspects of domestic and foreign policy.
