'Lead Me not into Temptation'
I hate ironing, and ironed clothes. It always seems to me a funny sort
of idea spending hours of your time re-creating that just-out-of-the-packet
look, that newly pressed, smartly dressed and ever so vertical look that
smacks of some kind of authoritarian cult.
Ironing is the insistance of order, permanance, and uniformity and a denile of the more pathetic sides of human nature ?Äì the tears, sweat, doubts, fears and uncertainties- its ideal is perfection, and a freshly ironed shirt says to all who observe it, 'i will not be led into temptation'...This piece is a celebration of everything outside our vacume-packed everydayness, and an expression of my fear of ironing, and love of feet.
The photoseries 'inconstancia' (transience) was created during
a two-month stay in a Mexican shaman village.
During this time an intensive exchange developed with a one-hundred-and-four year old woman. Many photographs emerged from the frequent visits and interesting discussions. The series captures the essential character of these experiences and presents them in a linear fashion.
After numerous visits the woman had passed away; the photographs serve as a final documentation.
